Gene Retske is a one of the most widely read journalists in telecom today. He has written for, dozens of publications, including Newsweek. Gene's first book, The International Callback Book: An Insider's View (CMP Books, 1994), provided a blueprint for telecommunications entrepreneurs to offer competitive long distance services. .

AT&T Enters Callback (International Insider, V2-8, August, 1996)

In 1996, the rumors were rampant that AT&T had started offering gray market services overseas. The media was scrambling to get the story, including the Wall Street Journal. Gene Retske got the story first, scooping even the WSJ staff, who were vigorously pursuing the story, by over two months.

One of the most popular features of The Prepaid Press is this educational series, set in the theme of a college classroom. Professor Retske covers the important topics and basics of the prepaid business. (Retske was actually an Adjunct Professor of Telecommunications at Webster University in Merritt Island, Florida)
